Thank you for visiting my 10K Together fundraiser for the Center for Grieving Children!
Owyn's father, Keegan, died in January 2009, when Owyn was 17 months old. We attended the CGC starting in 2015, when O was 7, until 2017, when she was 9. Owyn benefitted from participating in group sessions with other kids her age, and I enjoyed being part of the adult group. The CGC facilitators/volunteers are warm, caring people who help us to openly communicate about our feelings. They do art and other projects with the kids. There's a 'volcano room' where the kids can literally bounce off the (padded) walls, yell, rough house, and otherwise express their energy in a safe way. Most importantly, by connecting with others who have experienced similar losses, we understand that we're not alone.
CGC is a special place that helps many families in Maine during what may be their most difficult, painful times.
All the money raised on this page will go directly to the Center, where the funds will be used directly to help further their mission to provide a safe space, loving peer support, outreach, and education to grieving children, teens, families and the community.
